Date leaked through a job listing

Earlier this morning, folks seem to believe that a scoop had been found: an October 2020 release date for the PS5!

Although Sony and Microsoft have been engaged in a cold war behind a matte finish curtain for some time over the price and release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X respectively, a job listing on a Japanese recruitment site seemed to tip Sony’s hand. The listing originally read: You will handle the prototyping and purchasing of PlayStation hardware products. Choose the optimal suppliers from domestic and overseas partners, cooperate with the design and quality assurance departments on specification adjustments and production capacity for hardware parts, and build up the October 2020-due PlayStation 5.”

Sony of Japan was very swift to respond though, telling Famitsu that the listing was an error. No further details were provided by SIE (Sony Interactive Entertainment) PR. Right now, we still have no clue what the PS5 costs or when it’ll arrive. In fact the only real info we have on it is details regarding the controller, and a deep dive on the internals.

Meanwhile, we basically know everything there is to know about the Xbox Series X: Microsoft just needs to give us a date and a price. All eyes are on Sony, as their PS5 reveal event can’t be too far out.
