When the Economic Times runs a headline that says “Sony to introduce PlayStation phone,” heads turn. In the article, the Economic Times quotes Sony Computer Entertainment co-chief operating officer Jim Ryan as saying, “The playstation [sic] is a proven success and so is Sony Erricson. Convergence with the two arms working together is definitely plausable [sic].”

What’s that again? “Definitely plausable [sic]”? Oh, yeah, that’s right — not anything even close to a confirmation of a PlayStation mobile phone device. Sony clears things up with Next-Gen, and puts the rumor in the ground … for now.

“Jim Ryan was misquoted in his interview, and we do not have any plans at the moment for a PlayStation phone,” a Sony rep told them.

So there you have it — no plans at the moment. Looks like you’re going to have to carry another device around if you plan on being able to play videogames every-damned-where. You poor things.
