Ha, this is an interesting one.
According to a post from Sony this week, the PlayStation 2‘s Broadband Navigator service will end on March 31. After seeing EA drop service for games after just one year, this is pretty commendable to see Sony keep this alive for so long.
For those of you who aren’t aware, Broadband Navigator is a piece of software exclusive to Japanese PS2s, which allows folks to swap data on your hard drive — like alter in-game music, for instance. And as of the end of the month, it’s dead.
Seeing those shapes above really brings me back. The PS2 was a damn fine machine, and one of the best eras in all of gaming for action fans.
