I don’t think anyone could’ve predicted this: Sonic the Hedgehog is up on iTunes, and no, I’m not talking about music from the retro platformer. That’s right, Sonic is now a playable iPod game (5th gen iPod, 3rd gen nano, and classic only) that can be downloaded for $4.99, should you be inclined to make such a purchase.
As if we even needed another port of Sonic the Hedgehog in the first place, this version offers two control schemes (one-handed and two-handed), an unlimited number of continues, and the ability to save on any stage. A nice gesture for sure, but you won’t see me buying it any time soon.
It’s not all bad news though — another game has gone up on the iTunes Store today and believe it or not, it’s actually worth looking into. I am of course referring to one of PopCap Games’ most addictive puzzlers, Peggle.
If you’ve got one of the newer iPods and $4.99 lying around somewhere, I wholeheartedly recommend buying Peggle. This port is essentially the same as its PC counterpart (55 levels, 75 challenges, etc.), but portable. What’s not to love about that?
