You’re too corporate!
Those eager to see how Sega might screw up Sonic’s good will after Mania should mark their calendars, because Sonic Forces will be arriving in the US on November 7. Along with finally getting the chance to live out their DeviantArt dreams, fans who pre-order the game will receive a “bonus” edition of the title that includes some controller skins and in-game character costumes for the create-a-Sonic feature.

In all honesty, this isn’t the most egregious example of pre-order culture. At least a physical bonus is something that doesn’t detract from the game and losing out on extra skins isn’t the worst thing in the world. I’m not sure if Sega got the memo about the Switch’s plastic coating and stickers, but maybe they’ve made sure to avoid that issue with a new type of adhesive.
