David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, has announced today the formation of his own film production company. Dark Hero Productions will be bringing action, sci-fi and horror titles to market. The company’s first project, Demonology, will be written and directed by Hayter and comes from his experiences attending an international high school in Japan as a child.
While he’s waiting for funding to be approved on that project, Snake will be getting some practice in on Slaughter’s Road, a werewolf flick which will mark his directorial debut.
Of course, the film industry is nothing new to Hayter, who has already been the pen behind X-Men, X2 and The Scorpion King. He also shares a writing credit on Watchmen (though I hear his version of the script was an abomination). I guess with Snake’s story at its conclusion he’s going to have to do something to maintain his geek fame. Directing horror films is probably a pretty good way to do that.
