Early in Persona 3 Reload, you’ll face a seemingly straightforward, yet nonetheless stressful choice. As your teacher drones on, lecturing about something you probably don’t care about, you’ll have the option to sleep in class. The question is, should you?
You’ll have the option to sleep in class throughout Persona 3 Reload, and there’s no “correct” choice. By sleeping in class, you’ll increase your Courage social stat. However, if you stay awake, you’ll raise your Academics social stat instead. All of your social stats are important, so this simply comes down to which stat you want to raise more in the moment. There’s no incorrect choice.
Should you raise Courage or Academics first in Persona 3 Reload?
As far as which social stat you should raise first goes, this sort of depends on which route you’ll take through the game. You’ll need level 2 Courage to enter Club Escapade in the Paulownia Mall, which will grant you access to the fortune teller who can give you certain bonuses inside of Tartarus. You’ll also need level 3 Courage to order the Special Hagakure Bowl from Hagakure Ramen, which sharpy raises your Charm.
And, coincidentally, you’ll need level 3 Charm to order the Seafood Full Course from Wakatsu Kitchen, which sharply raises Academics. Funny how that works, huh?
Meanwhile, you’ll ideally want level 3 Academics by the time your first midterms roll around, which begin on 5/19. While this isn’t essential, per se, you will get a present from Mitsuru for doing well on your tests. You’ll also unlock a number of unique nightly activities to raise your Academics stat before midterms, too.
So, ultimately, you should ask yourself which stat you need most in the moment. I’d go for Courage if you’re specifically gunning for the Special Hagakure Bowl, but focusing Academics will make it easier to ace your midterms and future tests. It’s really up to you, so follow your heart and decide which student you’d like to be.
