You can finally fight the greatest legend of them all
Hello Fighter. Are you here to defeat Sheng Long so you can finally stand a chance against Ryu? Ok, then here it goes:
In the World Tour mode of Street Fighter VI, Sheng Long is awaiting challengers at the top of the SiRN building during night-time. He’s part of the “Fighty Mighty” side quest and getting to him isnāt particularly hard geographically-wise, but it might prove a bit confusing.
Players will need to enter the SiRN building that they can access via the Bayside Park Streetās Construction Site. There will be a lot of ladders, but itās mostly a straightforward path that allows players to sprint past most enemies in Dark Souls speedrun-style. Once inside the building, players should take the elevator to the seventh floor, then go back to the sixth floor, and then take the stairs to the roof.
Thereās a crane platform that players can climb to find Sheng Long at the top waiting to kick their ass.
He uses Ryu’s move set and he’s a level 90 enemy, so be aware of what you’ll be getting into.
We have to congratulate every reader who manages to take him down on their first try ā you’re true Street FighterĀ masters and connoisseurs. You can stop reading now and go on another impossible quest like catching Mew without trickery or tracking down and kicking Bigfoot’s ass.
And if you end up losing to Sheng Long, we say worry not. We respect any failed attempt as he’s meant as the ultimate challenge. Instead of letting the frustration get to you, perhaps consider taking some time to learn more about the character and why he achieved legendary status Street FighterĀ mythos.
The mistake that gave birth to a hoax, the hoax that shaped the franchise
If our opening statement of “defeating Sheng Long so you can finally stand a chance against Ryu?” sounded confusing, then that’s on Capcom. It all started with Ryu’s victory speech in Street Fighter 2.
So who is this Sheng Long one must defeat to stand a chance against Ryu? It would make no sense for Sheng Long to be Ryu’s master. Defeating his master would do more than make us stand a chance against his pupil ā it’d guarantee we’d go full Mortal Kombat flawless victory and then fatality on Ryu’s ass.
So who’s Sheng Long? The alias Ryu went by in his secret career in porn? No answer made sense, but it didn’t stop fans from believing he was a secret character yet to be unlocked. He was not. “Sheng Long” is but a mistranslation of the word “Shoryuken”, which means “Dragon Fist”.
American Ryu just wanted to say “You must defeat my Dragon Fist to stand a chance”.
Sheng Long was never a person, but that didn’t mean Capcom couldn’t turn it into one. Sheng Long’s myth-inspired characters such as Akuma ā originally a secret character ā and later Gouken, Ryu’s actual master.
Street Fighter 6’s Sheng Long is a triumph in laziness
Street Fighter V went further by giving Sheng Long an actual profile in its database, but it was only withĀ Street Fighter 6 that Capcom actually put him in the game. At first, finding Sheng Long left us underwhelmed ā he looks like something you could make in the character creator mode in five seconds. But then something very ironic happened: Fans who’d only seen screenshots of Sheng Long in SF6 got so disappointed by his lackluster design that they denounced SF6 Sheng Long as a fake character made by troll fans! And thus the 30-year-old hoax has gone full circle!
Will we be seeing Sheng Long as a fully playable character inĀ Street Fighter 7? We sure hope so.
Thanks for reading this lesson that doesn’t teach you anything in regards to taking down the beast! As a reward, we’re just going to say that somebody told us that spamming DeeJay’s Heavy Air Slasher will absolutely destroy this guy. Don’t say you learned that from us. You only defeated him via means any true martial artist would not just respect, but even take a bow to.
