While details are scarce at the moment, there’s a possibility that Nvidia may unleash a SUPER variant of its RTX 4080 graphics card that has 20GB of RAM. That’s if rumors from a number of sources are to be believed.
Speculations were shared by Videocardz (which originally came from Benchlife as well as a source on Twitter/X). It appears as though some information has fallen into the hands of leakers who assert that the boosted RTX 4080 is in the works.
Nvidia hasn’t confirmed any of this at the time of writing. Suffice it to say, many grains of salt should be consumed while chewing this latest information.
Either a SUPER or a Ti
It’s also looking like this elusive new model could sport the full AD102 chip, the same one used in the RTX 4090. The current 4080 uses AD103, so – as Videocardz says – the potential SUPER variant would need the AD102 GPU if it hopes to squeeze in 20GB of memory.
It’s also worth noting that sources have not specifically said that it will be part of the SUPER series, so it could even be a Ti. In any case, temper expectations for now until Nvidia makes a formal statement about these rumors.
Speculations about the potential Nvidia graphics card were doing the rounds recently. We also know that Team Green had to “unlaunch” a 12GB version of the RTX 4080 about a year ago.
The 4000 series – named “Ada Lovelace” after the 19th century English mathematician – kicked off in October 2022. We’ve had a number of product launches since then, including a couple of Ti models. However, we’ve yet to have a SUPER, so it could be high-time for one.
