How to unlock Role Quests in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail

One of the things added to Final Fantasy XIV with the release of Dawntrail is further Role Quests for each Job. These quests usually come with a solid backstory and, when completed, offer rewards such as titles. 

Before you can unlock Role Quests for your Job in Dawntrail, you’ll need to complete the level 92 MSQ quest ‘The Feat of Pots.’ During this quest, Br’uk Evu will approach you and tell you that the Role Quests are now available.

How to unlock Role Quests in Dawntrail

Before you can begin Role Quests, though, you’ll need to talk to go and find Br’uk Evu in Tuliyollal (X:12.4, Y:14.6). He’s the proprietor of Xbalyav Ty’e, so you’ll always find him in the same spot. 

Pick up the quest called ‘Uncouth Customers’ from Br’uk Evu. It’s a very simple quest to complete and simply requires you to sit through a cutscene detailing the backstory of the Role Quests and what Br’uk Evu requires of you. Once you’ve done that, talk to Rral Majun (X:12.3, Y:14.6) to complete ‘Uncouth Customers’.

Where to pick up Role Quests in Dawntrail

Role Quests themselves are split into five categories, with Jobs being grouped together based on their Job type. The groupings are as follows:

• Tank (Paladin, Warrior, Dark Knight, and Gunbreaker)
• Healer (White Mage, Scholar, Astrologian, and Sage)
• Melee DPS (Monk, Dragoon, Ninja, Samurai, Reaper, and Viper)
• Physical Ranged DPS (Bard, Machinist, and Dancer)
• Magical Ranged DPS (Black Mage, Summoner, Red Mage, and Pictomancer)

Each quest is picked up from a different NPC. You must have completed ‘Uncouth Customers’ and reached level 90 in a qualifying Job before individual Role Quests will become available.  These quests will see you travel to familiar places from past expansions as you try to stop a villainous group in their tracks.
