As you may already know, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has made things very difficult for Rockstar, shutting down the release of Manhunt 2 in the UK twice. Rockstar hasn’t given up, and now it seems that their persistence has finally paid off.

The Video Appeals Committee voted in favor or Rockstar in its appeal against the BBFC for their decision to ban Manhunt 2 from release in the UK, reports MCV. Of course, the BBFC is now looking at their options and deciding on how to react.

From the BBFC’s statement:

“The Board recognizes that the available research findings on the effects of video games (including positive as well as harmful effects) are varied and contested. But we continue to believe that a broad approach to the possible risks is needed, which goes beyond purely behavioral harm, and which also takes account of other possible effects on the sensibilities and attitudes of individuals.”

This is a big win for Rockstar and those against game censorship. Hopefully we’ll hear some UK release dates for the Manhunt 2 titles soon.
