Community member perri had the opportunity to attend Korea’s G-Star trade show this past weekend and made it a point to check out the demo for Rockman Online. He posted his impressions on his blog, and sad to say, they are a tad on the negative side.
Though the game is played from the same side perspective as the classics, he found the controls to be sluggish, the animations to be stiff, and the environments and music to be flat and lifeless. One fault that particularly stood out was that while you could dash, jump, and shoot all at the same time in the original X games, here you can only perform two of those abilities at once. This may cause problems for gamers hoping for a more traditional play experience.
As perri mused, these changes could probably attributed to the nature of MMO gameplay. It wasn’t all bad, though, as he expressed interest in the new upgrade system, specifically certain specialty parts that boost a single attribute at a time.
