Many folks have been singing the praises of Rocket League for quite some time now, but I was only just recently introduced first-hand to its brilliance. Developer Psyonix revealed today that it’s taking steps to expose the game to an even wider audience: those who go to the store to get their video games.
On a Kinda Funny Games stream, Psyonix announced that Rocket League is getting a retail release. No price was mentioned, but the game currently sells for $19.99 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It stands to reason that would be the cost of the physical version, unless some additional content bumps the price up slightly.
Rocket League is quite a success story already, the type that’s able to justify the risk of manufacturing a tangible product. It looks as if the game is in the hands of about ten million people, four million coming from sales and six million from free PlayStation Plus downloads. Hitting store shelves will likely prove to be a nice little boost to those stats.
