IGN is now reporting that Mercenaries mode, unlocked in Resident Evil 5 after completion, will indeed be playable over Xbox LIVE.
The clarification comes after IGN posted their review of the title, lamenting openly that the mode didn’t support Xbox LIVE play. The Internet exploded. How could they make this mistake? Are they dirty liars, and should we never trust IGN’s reviews again?
Not quite. You see, the review code Capcom sent out to press simply doesn’t have an online option for Mercenaries mode. I can confirm this; I complete the game for our review a few nights ago, and noticed the lack of the feature myself. But as anyone who has a retail copy of the game can confirm (our own Chad Concelmo included), there’s already a game update available that adds the feature. So everyone calm down.
