Realistic metroid is appropriately terrifying

Ever wonder what a metroid would look like if it were a real thing? Yeah, me neither, because I’m pretty sure it would absolutely terrifying.

Artist Jaime “Kalapusa” Margary has taken this to the next level, having just finished up a reference illustration for a “realistic” metroid specimen sculpture. It looks just like the metroids from the games we know and love, only with more veins, working muscle, and… I’m not even sure what I’m looking at.

Margary did his homework, though, trying to keep the final product as close to a living organism as scientifically possible. He’s even written something called “Basic Physiology of the Metroid,” in which he says things like “Once its claws latch onto a victim’s head, four electrodes surround a cavity that functions as a mouth/anus combo.”

See, I told you — terrifying.
