Apocalypse Now
Arc System Works has revealed the next roster member for its gorgeous anime fighter Guilty Gear Strive. Of little surprise to anyone but much delight to myself, it’s the lovely/apocalypse-inducing Ramlethal Valentine.
Ramlethal made her debut as a boss character in the arcade edition of Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- before her world-ending talents were added to the main roster. Born of the Backyard, Ramlethal takes the form of a beautiful young woman, but is in actuality an overseer who has declared war on all of humanity, with the somewhat extreme goal of wiping the planet of all humankind. Fortunately, Ram has lightened up a little in recent days, and seems to have put her cataclysmic ways behind her… for now.
As we can see from her debut trailer, Ramlethal is once again accompanied by her familiars, Luciferos, and her gargantuan longswords. Ram is also rocking a jaunty skipper’s hat and a regal military coat. I think she looks fabulous, and I’m very happy to see the face of our own destruction back in action. Despite GG’s propensity for filling its roster with returning stars, many fans – myself included – saw Ram’s chances of securing a spot in the new game pretty slim.
Guilty Gear Strive, recently delayed for further polish, will now release on PS4 in early 2021.
