Rainbow Six Siege, the online multiplayer shooter game, is set to receive its latest update Y9S2.3. As part of maintenance, Ubisoft has announced that the servers will be offline from 6 a.m. PT onwards. The Rainbow Six Siege servers are expected to be down for around 60 minutes during this downtime period.
Rainbow Six Siege servers are down currently for players on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, who will have to wait until the R6 downtime ends in order to get into a match. On the bright side of this downtime, they will be greeted with the new Y9S2.3 update. Patch notes for the upcoming update are now released, offering gamers a look at what to expect. Ubisoft has also revealed the space required for the coming update on all platforms.
Rainbow Six Siege Y9S2.3 patch
Here is the Rainbow Six Siege Y9S2.3 patch size:
- PlayStation 4: 525 MB
- PlayStation 5: 3.63 GB
- Xbox One: 0.8 GB
- Xbox Series X/S: 1 GB
- Steam: 486 MB
- Ubisoft Connect: 570 MB
The upcoming patch will remove the Reputation Notice pop-up, and it will be replaced by a yellow dot in the Reputation System tile on the main menu. This dot will come every time a player’s current Reputation Standing changes.
Reverse friendly fire
With the coming patch, players will no longer be kicked from a match for “excessively killing or damaging too many allies”, and while that sounds like a strange decision, there is, fortunately, a catch to it. Instead of being kicked, these players will experience a reverse friendly fire situation.
This means that once a player starts to intentionally inflict damage or starts killing allies, the reverse friendly fire feature will get activated, which basically reflects all the intentional damage towards allies, back to the guilty player.
While the player will not be removed, all the team kills and ally damage would count towards penalties and negatively affect a player’s reputation level.
Rainbow Six Siege Y9S2.3 patch will also permanently remove the PlayStation Tournaments feature from the game.
There are balance changes coming for several playable Operators in Rainbow Six Siege, and you can find the changes below:
Azami | Kiba Barrier: Increased bullet damage received |
Buck | Removed GONNE-6 |
