Quick and easy WoW mount collecting: Temperamental Skyclaw

It's not technically a flying fox.

Mount collecting in World of Warcraft is essentially me channeling my inner Marge Simpson with the idea of “I just think they’re neat!”

Will I ever use 98% of these mounts? Absolutely not. Am I still compelled to add them to my stable of exotic pets like some out-of-touch oligarch? Of course. No mount embodies that as much as the Temperamental Skyclaw.

Is it technically pay-to-win if I just use the Auction House?

The Temperamental Skyclaw is purely a transactional mount. To acquire it, players must bring (20) Flash Frozen Meat, (20) Gnolan’s House Special, and (20) Tuskarr Jerky to Zon’Wogi just outside Brackenhide Hollow in The Azure Span.

There are two ways to acquire these ingredients: farming the drops from various NPCs or purchasing them from the Auction House. Bear in mind that each of these items has an incredibly low drop rate, so it’s a matter of how much you value your time.

Flash Frozen Meat drops from the Snow Gnolls north of Camp Nowhere in The Azure Span. Alternatively, these can be purchased from the Auction House for around 1298 gold (prices vary from server to server).

Gnolan’s House Special drops from Inn Gnolls inside the large tree serving as an Inn southeast of Brackenhide Hollow in The Azure Span. The Auction House prices 20 House Specials at 2377 gold (prices vary from server to server).

Tuskarr Jerky drops from Forest Gnolls, Darktooth Poachers, and Darktooth Stalkers. These are northwest of the Azure Archives in The Azure Span. Or you can nab it from the Auction House for around 858 gold (prices vary from server to server).

All told, you can invest several hours or spend about 4533 gold to add the Temperamental Skyclaw to your collection. Which how generous World of Warcraft can be in terms of world quest rewards or how much crafting materials sell for on the Auction House, it’s definitely worth considering spending the cash and saving yourself the time.
