A couple of days ago we told you about the new PlayStation Portable model, the PSP 3000. Sony packed in a new microphone and Skype software into the already lighter, thinner package. They also mentioned a new updated LCD screen, but I didn’t give it much thought until I saw Famitsu’s comparison pictures.

Wow, what a difference! Anyone that has played a PSP-1000 or 2000 outside can tell you that it makes a better mirror than a game system. The 3000’s anti-reflective technology seems to be working in this picture. And look how vivid the 3000 is!

Famitsu says that the other changes are minimal. They mention a slight rounding of the upper top corners of the new unit, though the weight has not changed. The circle on the back is now smaller for some unknown reason. Oh, and the PlayStation logo is replaed by the Sony one?

I wouldn’t say that PSP-2000 owners would need to worry about upgrading, but if you’re like me, who is still rocking a Japanese 1000 model, the upgraded LCD may win you over.
