PSA: Using the Nighthawk Potion in daylight can harm your sight in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

My eyes! My eyes!

The Nighthawk potion stands out as one of the most advantageous items in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, illuminating the path for players in the heart of darkness. But, despite its perks, it does come with a downside that practically hinders your vision in the heat of the day.

Many players have noted that when the Nighthawk potion is still activated in the daytime, it casts a blinding white-colored light that covers the entire screen. You can’t see anything, making it almost impossible to move around. I tried it myself, and boy, is it bright. It looks as if Henry is staring straight into the sun, no matter where you go.

Even though it seems like common knowledge not to use Nighthawk during the day, this occurrence can actually happen more times than you think. Sometimes, its duration can last a lot longer than anticipated, or specific quests change it to a sunny day without a moment’s notice. What’s more, going ahead in time doesn’t seem to negate the effects, forcing you to live with it temporarily. It’s made me a little hesitant to use it, so now I always check what time it is before consuming it.

The widespread issue of the Nighthawk potion’s daytime misuse has led to the creation of a mod that completely eliminates its blinding effects. The mod works like any other potion, allowing you to consume it and save your eyes from burning in the sun. It even uses basic ingredients from the Chamomile Decoction healing potion, including oil base and chamomile.

So, if you have made the unfortunate mistake of using the potion as a PC player, you may want to give this mod a try. Unfortunately, there’s not really a quick solution for console users (I learned that the hard way), but there may be something available later down the line.

A potion that negates specific effects could be a fascinating addition to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. With more players voicing their concerns about the Nighthawk potion’s blinding effect, the developers might address this issue in the upcoming bonus quest update.
