Destiny 2 Anniversary DLC

PSA: The Destiny 2 Anniversary DLC only works on platforms you buy it on

It’s out on December 7

So this situation isn’t nearly as sneaky as locking dungeons behind special editions, but it’s something to be aware of nonetheless. When it comes to the Destiny 2 Anniversary DLC that’s arriving on December 7, it will not transfer like current season content.

Bungie made this clear in a recent blog, noting:

“The 30th Anniversary Pack, launching on December 7, 2021, will function as DLC (such as Beyond Light or Shadowkeep) and not as Seasonal content. DLC licenses do not transfer between platforms with Cross Save like Seasons do. This means that the 30th Anniversary Pack will be accessible exclusively on the platform it was purchased regardless of Cross Save setup. Players will need to purchase the 30th Anniversary Pack on each platform they intend to access it on.”

For a lot of people this was likely expected (as it applies to many other DLC transactions), but it’s important to know either way before it’s actually out and you’re confused. As someone who plays Destiny on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, it’s a little annoying, as I’ll have to hunker down and just pick one.

As a recap, the new pack contains a dungeon and the Gjallarhorn Exotic Rocket Launcher (this is where we’re at, paid weapon DLC), on top of “new weapons, armor, and much more.” It’s a whopping $24.99, and will serve as stopgap content between now and the launch of the upcoming Witch Queen expansion, which is set for a February 22, 2022 arrival.

Another heads-up: on December 8, the Legendary Edition is leaving Xbox Game Pass. Plan accordingly!
