This is what I’ve always wanted Sony to do. There are tons of great PS2 games out there that are sitting and rotting. Why not re-release them digitally for the PS3?
They’re doing exactly that in Japan, starting July 25. The PSN Game Archives will be expanded to include PlayStation 2 games, kicking off with five titles:
- Resident Evil Code: Veronica
- Kessen
- Shin Contra
- Dragon Force
- Siren
FFFF! Dragon Force?! Kessen?! These are some of my favorite games! Andriasang reports that these PS2 re-releases will only be playable on the PS3. Sony says that new releases will come once a month after the July 25 launch. Future titles include, Dead or Alive 2 Hard Core, Castlevania, Dynamite Dekka (Die-Hard Arcade), Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box, and Dark Cloud.
The best part? The prices are nice, ranging from 800 to 1,500 yen, or $10 to $20 a game.
Sony, HURRY UP and bring this program here.
