Ok, that’s not true. Everything you need to know about Bayonetta is that she has guns on her feet. Since that’s the most badass thing I’ve typed all week, it should count as enough impetus to pay attention to the Platinum Games-developed title.

In case slender-waisted witch-heroines with guns on their feet aren’t your thing, here’s something a bit more convincing: Hideki Kamiya is the lead direcor. To refresh your memory, he’s the man responsibile for some of Capcom’s most critically acclaimed games of late: Resident Evil 2, Viewtiful Joe, Devil May Cry, and Okami, par ejemplo. If you don’t want Platinum Games to get scuttled like Clover Studios did, you’ll be a peach and keep an eye out for Bayonetta when it hits retailers later this year.

For a more in-depth look at Kamiya-san and his history in the games industry, be sure to check out 1Up’s developer profile. It’s got some really interesting tidbits (Kamiya got rejected from Sega before he started at Capcom) and, despite his disgustingly difficult games, Kamiya is just a big softie: Shinji Mikami (creator of Resident Evil) almost made him cry, and Okami is based off a high school art competition.

There also happens to be a delightful new trailer for Bayonetta after the jump, as well as a video interview with Kamiya and producer Yusuke Hashimoto. Highlights include Kamiya giving a bikini model impression and footage of Bayonetta summoning a magical T-Rex made out of her own hair.

Ok, I changed my mind: “magical T-Rex made out of her own hair” is now the new most badass thing I’ve typed all week. Just hit the damned jump and enjoy the videos.
