You’ll have until January 31 to play through it
Four games are joining the PlayStation Now service this week, and if you’ve been morbidly curious about Grand Theft Auto III: The Definitive Edition after all of the criticisms the trilogy collection has drawn, December is your chance to get in there, tear it up, and move on before it’s too late. The subscription service is also adding Final Fantasy X/X2 HD Remaster, John Wick Hex, and an under-the-radar arcade-style action game called Splitlings.
PlayStation Now games coming December 7
- Grand Theft Auto III: The Definitive Edition ā one-third of Rockstar’s recent Definitive Edition collection, if you’re curious to see what the fuss is about.
- John Wick Hex ā a tactical take on the larger-than-life movies from Mike Bithell.
- Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster ā fan-favorite RPGs if you’re in that certain mood, but you’ll unfortunately miss out on the PC version‘s convenience features.
- Spitlings ā a local and online co-op arcade game with wacky creature protagonists.
As a caveat, PlayStation has already confirmed the departure date for GTA III: The Definitive Edition ā it’s only available with PlayStation Now until January 31, 2022.
While we’ve tended to focus on the monthly PlayStation Plus drops, I know a handful of you have been calling for more PlayStation Now recaps, so I’ll get in that habit. It’s also interesting to think about these two services together after hearing a report that Sony is looking into merging them as part of a new multi-tier subscription in 2022.
As a reminder ā one that I also sometimes forget about! ā it is possible to download PlayStation Now games on PS4 and PS5. It’s not a strictly streaming-only service on these consoles, which is a big deal for some of us who have well-founded grievances.
