The perfect podcast game

Recommended Videos

Minutes after I started No Man’s Sky last night, I was tasked with finding a wealth of Heridium. The scanner pulled one up that was a six-minute walk. Off I went, collecting resources and analyzing animals along the way.

Six minutes seemed like a long time, but it’s far from the worst offender. Later, I had a 15-minuter, which ended up being longer because I’d get distracted by other side tasks. But, there’s a ton of moving across the terrain where there’s not a heck of a lot happening. Some would call that boring; my curiosity is still high enough that things are not yet mundane, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that it’s tedious at times.

Somewhere in my first couple hours with No Man’s Sky, I realized that it’s the perfect podcast game. That is, it’s a game that requires some of your attention but not all of it. During those long stretches when you’re just trekking across the landscape, hoping to soon get to your destination, why not entertain yourself with a little side-action?

Destructoid might be able to help you out. We have a catalog of almost 350 episodes of Podtoid over the course of the site’s 10-year history. The five most recent episodes are listed below if you need somewhere to start. Or, just go back to listening to your mining beam cut through more Plutonium.
