Ahead of the Infantry update for the persistently online warfare MMORPG Foxhole launching on November 18, developer Siege Camp announced during its annual devstream that the MMO will be taking to the skies in 2025.

Officially titled Airborne, the update will allow players to jump into the cockpits of a variety of aircraft including fighters and bombers. Players can also utilize the new aircraft to paradrop behind enemy lines with their squad to target supply chains and enemy equipment. Further details are limited but in the roughly one-minute trailer, you can see players piloting aircraft and bombing tanks and infantry below while also parachuting out into enemy territory.

Although the Airborne update isn’t scheduled to be released until 2025, players can look forward to the Infantry update scheduled to drop in just two weeks on November 18. The core focus of this update is to overhaul infantry combat, adding more tactical and dynamic gameplay while reworking the impression mechanic and adding weapon shouldering and stamina mechanics.

The Infantry update also adds new anti-tank weaponry allowing infantry to utilize anti-tank rifles to help stem the flow of tanks and armored vehicles that become quite a nuisance late into a campaign in one of Foxhole’s wars. In an effort to enhance the infantry vs. infantry combat itself, new large-scale minefields have been added as well as the ability to utilize ruined fortifications as cover.

An important aspect of the battles in Foxhole, the Medic role, is also being updated. Medics will now serve a more expanded role, able to transport wounded players from the frontlines of battle to heal up and recover and at hospitals which can now be built inside of bunker networks. Also, a new Medical Train vehicle can be built that servers as a mobile field hospital for Medics to utilize to heal up other players.

I’ve jumped in and out of Foxhole since its 1.0 release in 2022, and all these changes sound like great additions to what’s already an insanely fun and social MMORPG with a unique twist. With the addition of planes and aerial combat, I’m looking forward to jumping back in and seeing how it changes up the war.

The Foxhole Infantry update releases on November 18, 2024. The Airborne update is currently targeting a Summer 2025 release.
