Palworld players are just noticing a helpful repair shortcut

To repair, or not to repair?

Palworld is full of little tricks that help with all kinds of things from organising your Palbox to halving stacks. Some of these little tricks have flown under the radar, though, and are only just being discovered by players.

One such quality of life feature is the option to press R. Players have known about pressing R to move items between their inventory and storage for a while, but recently, it’s come to light that pressing the same button at the Repair Bench will repair all gear which as fallen below 100% durability.

However, just because you can, doesn’t necessarily mean that you should. Especially early into the game, you don’t want to throw away precious resources when you don’t have to and repairing an item that’s got a lot of use to go before it breaks is one sure fire way to waste resources. This becomes even more of an issue when you’re looking at Metal Armor or weapons which use Ingots, or even Refined Ingots, as part of their repair.

That said, if you’ve been on a long expedition and multiple pieces of your gear are sitting in the red, or your screen is filled with “___ is damaged” notifications, pressing R is a much quicker way to repair more than one item.

It’s worth noting that pressing R won’t be an option if you’re missing even one material for one repair. Even if you’re only missing one Ingot, you will have to repair everything individually.

How to tell if an item needs repairing

Items deteriorate over time and it takes a while before repair is strictly necessary

As I mentioned, if an item is in desperate need of repair, you’ll get a notification on your screen telling you that it’s damaged. At this point, the item will stop performing as it should. When it comes to Armor, this means that you lose a large chunk of defense while with weapons, you’ll do far less damage than you regularly would.

When you get to your Repair Bench, you’ll see that those items have a red tool overlay, meaning that they’re no longer able to perform as intended. As long as you have the materials needed, you’ll be able to repair those items.
