Palworld: How to get the Grappling Gun and upgrades

This gun isn't for killing.

The Grappling Gun is among the most useful tools you can unlock in Palworld. It allows you to scale mountains and cross ravines quickly but also helps you to move while over-encumbered. There are four versions of the Grappling Gun so far, here’s how to get all of them.

Before you can craft even the most basic version of the Grappling Gun, you’ll need to unlock the Weapons Workbench. Unlike the normal Workbench, this one is specifically used for crafting weapons and slightly decreases how much time some crafts, such as Arrows, take.

The Weapons Workbench unlocks using Technology Points at level 20 and you’ll need the following ingredients to build it:

  • 15 Ingots
  • 50 Wood
  • 10 Nails

The basic, first-stage Grappling Gun unlocks using one Ancient Technology Point at level 12. To craft it, you’ll need:

  • 10 Paldium Fragments
  • 10 Ingots
  • 30 Fiber
  • One Ancient Civilization Part

To use the Grappling Gun, all you need to do is make sure it’s equipped as your weapon and then it’s as simple as aim and fire. It shoots out a long rope with a hook attached to the end and provided it’s latched onto something wherever you were aiming, you’ll be thrown through the air and land safely.

There’s a 12-second cooldown period between shots, so it’s not the fastest mode of transport for long distances, but it can be used even if you’re over-encumbered, which is helpful for those ore farming excursions.

How to get the Mega Grappling Gun

You need to have unlocked the original Grappling Gun before you can unlock the Mega version. As long as you’ve done that, all you need is a level of at least 15 and two spare Ancient Technology Points.

The Mega Grappling Gun can also be crafted at the Weapons Workbench and requires the following ingredients:

  • Four Ancient Civilization Parts
  • 20 Paldium Fragments
  • 20 Ingots
  • 50 Fiber

The cooldown period for the Mega Grappling Gun is reduced by two seconds, so you’ll need to wait 10 seconds in between shots.

You’ll need to unlock the previous two versions of the Grappling Gun before you can unlock the Giga variety. It unlocks at level 32, and this time you’ll need three Ancient Technology Points to swap for the recipe.

The Giga Grappling Gun cannot be made at the Weapons Workbench, instead requiring a Weapons Assembly Line to be crafted. Here’s the recipe:

  • 80 Fiber
  • 30 Ingots
  • 30 Paldium Fragments
  • 8 Ancient Civilization Parts

The cooldown for the Giga Grappling Gun is further decreased, so now you’ll only have to wait eight seconds between shots

How to get the Hyper Grappling Gun

If you’ve unlocked the previous three and reached level 47, you’ll be able to unlock the Hyper Grappling Gun using four Ancient Technology Points

To craft this version, you’ll need the Weapons Assembly Line II and the recipe is as follows:

  • 40 Paldium Fragments
  • 15 Ancient Civilization Parts
  • 20 Carbon Fiber
  • 20 Polymer
  • 30 Refined Ingots

As before, the cooldown time between shots reduces by another two seconds, meaning that you’ll only have to wait six seconds before you can fire again.
