Some battles in Palworld can be tough, but things get a bit breezier if you have a dragon in your back pocket. One of the more popular dragons in the game is the freakishly cute Quivern, which can be easy or hard to find and capture in Palworld.
If that last sentence seems confusing, let me explain. Quivern is a pure dragon-type Pal in Palworld, which already makes it a bit of a rare breed. You can, however, attempt to claim one early during your campaign. It’s also not too difficult to capture, if you’re prepared. On the other hand, finding one out in its natural habitat is far, far trickier. And more dangerous.
Where to find Quivern as an early capture in Palworld
By the time you’re level 20, you should already have a good lay of the land in Palworld. You’ll know the spawns of Alpha Pals near the initial spawn point, and perhaps already have a couple in your possession. If you haven’t already, you can find an Alpha Pal Quivern on the opposite side of the main island on which you begin your journey. It’s easily reachable if you have a Pal mount.
The Alpha Quivern is located at -260, -121 on the map, near the ‘Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant’ fast travel point. You know you’ve found it by the massive stone statue overlooking a blue, circular teleportation circle that drops you directly into the Quivern fight.
It’s a pure dragon, so based on the elemental table of weaknesses and strengths, you should take a team of ice-based Pals to fight the Quivern — I beat it using a Penking. If you have an ice Pal that needs better skills before the fight, check out our guide on how to find and swap skills.
The fight is still a rough one, mind, with the Quivern set at level 23 and boasting more than 2,000 health points. Be sure to bring good weapons and at least a handful of medium-tier Pal Spheres. Keep at it, and soon the most adorable dragon will be your new friend.
How to find Quivern in the wild
Now, here’s where things get a bit tricky. Wild Quiverns aren’t found on the main islands. You’ll need to take a flying or swimming mount to the Wildlife Sanctuary furthest to the west of the map. From what I can tell, the default level of a wild Quivern is 40. If you want to capture one, you’ll need to be pretty far along in the game — and ready to break the law.
Wildlife Sanctuaries are places guarded by PIDF soldiers, and you’ll get a Wanted status if seen. There are also many other high-level Pals and not all of them are friendly. Not only that, but you may need to run around the place until a Quivern spawns. If you’re sneaky and tenacious enough, you’ll eventually come across one.

Other than its charming looks, there are plenty of reasons to want to own a Quivern for your Palworld team. You can ride it as a flying mount after crafting a ‘Quivern Saddle’ at level 36. While mounted, dragon attacks deal more damage. It also has a chance to drop High Quality Pal Oil when defeated.
Quiverns are also good workers. Here are their stats:
Handiwork | 1 |
Gathering | 2 |
Mining | 2 |
Transporting | 3 |
Overall, the Quivern is a fairly good dragon-type Pal to put in your party or in your base. Keep in mind that Quiverns are quite big, especially the Alpha. If you want to keep one or two in your base, give them enough room so they don’t get stuck. Thankfully, we do have a guide on how to free them if needed.
