Once Human mobile release date and preload guide

Don't miss the mobile release.

In Once Human, players enter a vast open world where a paranormal event has caused all sorts of mutated creatures to emerge and scour the surface for anyone left alive. You’re tasked with defending yourself from these monsters and will be rewarded with increasingly better loot, but it’s not available to everyone just yet.

Once Human is available on PC. Despite a few hiccups with the game’s privacy policy, the community has managed to jump in and start building their post-apocalyptic lives with relative ease. However, I’m waiting for the mobile release as someone who doesn’t have a powerful PC and must resort to the Steam Deck for PC games, where Once Human doesn’t run at the time of writing. Especially since there’s been no mention of a console port from developer Starry Studio.

When is the release date for Once Human mobile?

The expected release date for Once Human‘s mobile version is September 26, 2024. I say expected because this is the release date shown on mobile storefronts, but it may change because, at the time of writing, we’re still a few weeks away from it.

The game’s mobile version will be the same as the PC version, but it’ll feature touchscreen controls and will almost certainly have a slight visual downgrade to get it running on lower-end devices. Given how good the PC version looks, I think the mobile version will still look pretty great.

When can you preload Once Human on mobile devices?

At the time of writing, you cannot preload Once Human on mobile devices. You can pre-register for the game on the Google Play Store and the App Store, but neither of these options will download the game files ahead of its launch just yet.

This is because the game’s mobile port probably isn’t ready yet. With a release date in September 2024, which is two months after the PC version’s launch, the developer likely needs time to iron out any bugs that crop up in the PC version so that it doesn’t have to fix them all over again when the mobile version is released.

However, if you intend on playing Once Human on mobile, then I suggest you pre-register for it well ahead of time. The game had dozens of pre-register rewards for PC players, and I suspect something similar will happen with the mobile version. Plus, the game has cross-platform features, so it’s possible that you’ll be able to bring your PC character over to the mobile version and continue with your character.
