In case you happen to live somewhere near the NYC area, here’s a little info that you may want to know in case you plan on picking up a PlayStation 3 at launch.
Let’s start with Best Buy:
The future of gaming begins as the highly anticipated PlayStation3 launches on Nov. 17. Best Buy stores nationwide will open early at 8 a.m. including a special Midnight openings at the Best Buy store in Midtown and NoHo. Quantities are limited and pre-orders are not available. Best Buy plans to by provide customers waiting in line updates on product availability and issuing tickets before the store opens.
And this is how Circuit City will run things:
Circuit City and Q104.3 WAXQ-FM WILL GIVE AWAY ONE HUNDRED PS3 SYSTEMS at the Circuit City Union Square superstore, located at 52 East 14th Street in Manhattan. The first 750 persons lined up at the Union Square store on the evening of Thursday, November 16 will be eligible for drawings that begin at 10:00 p.m. Winners will be able to claim their prizes during a special midnight store opening. In addition, the first one hundred persons in line at the Union Square Circuit City each will receive a voucher that entitles them to purchase a PlayStation 3 during the midnight opening. (Limit one per customer; PS3 for sale is 60GB model, $599.99)
I plan on trying to stop by both Best Buy and Circuit City to speak with the fans, so if you see me with camera in hand, make sure to say hi. I will also be at the PS3 launch party that same night. How am I going to make it to all three? I have no idea. All I can say is that cab drivers are gonna love me that night.
