‘I’m actually taking pictures of this so I can blow it up in a video game’
Noclip continues to be one of my favorite projects within the industry. Their behind-the-scenes documentary series covering the development of DOOM, The Witness, and many others are some of the most inspiring pieces of work to someone such as myself who dreams of working in video production.
Now, Danny O’Dwyer and the Noclip crew will be going behind the scenes at Bethesda Game Studios in a two-part series covering their history — everything from founding the company itself and the “goofy” box art of Arena, to packaging the games in their basement to ship them out. We’ll also get “insight into the development of Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim and many others.” Even more notably, the series will also be diving into the design, world, and mechanics of Fallout 76.
Given the recent announcement of Fallout 76, this could honestly be their most ambitious piece of work to date. Especially considering the polarizing reception Fallout 76 has been already getting and the general lack of information currently out there on the game.
The first part, “The History of Bethesda Game Studios,” will be airing Tuesday, June 5. Part two, “The Making of Fallout 76,” will be airing Tuesday, June 12 (the same day E3 starts).
