Salvage Frigate Modules in No Man’s Sky are used to purchase blueprints to upgrade your Freighter, and also unlock other construction items. Unlike Salvaged Data (required to obtain base-building blueprints), finding Salvage Frigate Modules can turn into quite a grind.
The gameplay of No Man’s Sky is pretty generous in terms of earning Units, and even Nanites through the Runaway Mould trick. However, there’s no easy method for obtaining a Salvage Frigate Module.
There are several ways to obtain a Salvage Frigate Module in No Man’s Sky. Players can earn a Salvage Frigate Module by launching Industrial-type Frigate Expeditions from their Frigate. However, there is no guarantee that you will receive them at the end of the Frigate Expedition. In fact, there is no guaranteed method of finding the Salvage Frigate Module in No Man’s Sky, thus making it a rare item to obtain in the game.
Players can get lucky and find them as free rewards given away by Explorer Guild Envoy in some Space Stations, but you will need to have a Master standing rank with the Explorers Guild in order to claim them.
You may also stumble upon Salvaged Frigate Modules as loot on Crashed Freighters and Derelict Freighters. Even slimmer odds exist of finding Salvaged Frigate Modules as a reward upon completion of Mission Board and Nexus missions.
There’s another method to grind for Salvage Frigate Modules, which requires players to find and loot Cargo Pods. These pods appear when a Frigate is found in space. The chances of getting Salvage Frigate Modules via Cargo Pods are extremely low. There’s also the danger of not only facing attack from the Freighter but also the Sentinel Interceptor. You can try this method in Pirate Controlled star systems where Sentinel Intercepter does not arrive when you loot Cargo Pods. Fortunately, you can see what a Cargo Pod holds when you move close to it, so you can find out if it has Modules without running into trouble.
These are some of the ways you can find Salvage Frigate Module in No Man’s Sky. All of these ways require time, and patience, and the grind can become frustrating soon. Since effort is being put into each of these methods, it is best to opt for the route which provides benefits all throughout the grind. Putting in the effort to achieve Master rank with Explorers Guild in the hopes of finding Salvaged Frigate Modules will take you to various Space Stations, and unlock other valuable freebies to redeem.
Similarly, frequent Freighter Expeditions will also reward players with Units, Nanites, and rare items. As for the Cargo Pod method, players stand to stumble upon other rare items in Cargo Pods when searching for the Salvaged Frigate Module.
