Well, this is a change of pace for Nintendo’s amiibo release. We’ve known for a while now that Splatoon would get its own figures. However, Nintendo revealed at today’s Direct that it’s bundling the game’s three amiibo together in a pack, something that hasn’t been done before.

The bundle isn’t required to snag these amiibo, however. They’ll also be released piecemeal for anyone who wants to go the a la carte route.

As for details on functionality, Splatoon‘s amiibo will unlock special missions that are unique to the figures. It sounds as if they may also grant access to special weapons and/or character skins.

These three amiibo will release alongside Splatoon on May 29. That’s also concurrent with Wave four’s release. Amiibo hunters will be plenty busy in late May.
