Nintendo patent reveals a possible Wii portable system thingy

A really bored writer over at TechnaBob went hunting through the USPTO Patent database (guess he was tired of Minesweeper) and discovered a patent application from Nintendo detailing a portable gaming system that will use the same type of motion sensing technology found in the Wiimote. The patent was actually created back in March, but was updated just this week. Whether Nintendo actually makes this or not, it’s safe to say that no one would be surprised. The DS, well, that prints money. The Wii, after all this time, are still hard to keep in stock at stores. Combine the two together, and Nintendo has another instant seller on their hand.

It’s a great idea for sure, but Nintendo could very well just add tilt features to the games themselves. As TechnaBob pointed out, there already is a homebrew for using motion sensing on the DS. Not to mention the fact that Nintendo has done what I’m suggesting in the past with Yoshi’s Topsy Turvy on the GBA and even back in the Game Boy Color days with Kirby Tilt ‘n’ Tumble.

Nintendo: the only gaming company that makes you self conscious in public by having games where you need to blow/talk to the game, stroke the screen as fast possible, smile like a jackass and in the future, twist the DS around like you’re having a seizure.
