Nintendo has registered a special commemorative logo to celebrate the 25th anniversary of iconic platform hero Mario. Quite what Nintendo is planning to use the logo for remains to be seen, but it’s fair to assume that upcoming Mario titles will get it slapped on the box.
There aren’t that many games coming out to celebrate Mario’s special year, however. We have a new Mario vs. Donkey Kong, and Japan’s getting a Super Mario All-Stars Wii release, but I can’t think of much else. Maybe there’s something hidden up Nintendo’s sleeve to see the year out with a bang.
Super Mario Bros. was released in 1985, a year after I was born. Crazy to think that videogames are older than many of the people reading this right now!
