Peach looks good as a swashbuckler.

After a really vague teaser in the last Nintendo Direct, Nintendo has revealed more details on the previously unnamed Princess Peach: Showtime.

Princess Peach: Showtime has the eponymous heroine going up against Grape and the Sour Bunch, which I absolutely love. It’s set up as a series of stage plays, taking on different themes and providing Peach with a different transformation. A number of the transformations were shown off, including swashbuckler, patisserie, and detective, among others. Afterward, it was teased that there are more transformations beyond just what was shown.

While this isn’t the first game Peach has headlined, she does look a little bit more capable this time around. I usually can’t stand her vacuous damsel personality, so having her put on pants and swing a sword does something for me.

It’s looking pretty good so far, but I don’t think I fully grok what’s going on. It sometimes looks like a platformer, and other times, it seems to have mini-games. Fun looking mini-games, at least. I’m down for cake decoration. By the looks of things, it’s a situation-rush style of game, which I can totally get behind.

Princess Peach: Showtime is coming to Nintendo Switch March 22, 2024.
