‘New’ NES game Battle Kid spotted in local Tokyo shops

Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril has apparently been kicking around for a while, but I’d never seen it before. It wasn’t at PAX East or PAX Prime, and it sure as hell wasn’t at E3. However, it does look pretty awesome.

If you can’t tell from the video, this is a new in-cartridge NES game being sold in some Tokyo shops.  Note that this was an NES cart, and not a Famicom game. That just triples the weirdness.

The game comes to us from Sivak games, who are apparently still selling this ‘new’ NES game for around $30. That’s a lot cheaper than the game was going for in Tokyo. I think the price in-store was around 5,000 yen, which is more than $50. Looks like the Japanese are getting screwed on this deal, but either way, a digital retail release would probably be the way to go on this one.

I didn’t mean that as an attack. I’m just calling it how it is.
