Nearly 30 years later, Suikoden I & II remasters arrive next year

It's almost time.

Konami announced during the 2024 Nintendo Partner Showcase that the first two Suikoden games, combined into the lengthy-titled Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars, are arriving on Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms on March 6, 2025. Originally announced back in 2023 and delayed indefinitely, we now have a confirmed date for next year.

The original Suikoden and Suikoden II games launched in 1995 and 1998, respectively, with a compilation of the two arriving years later in 2006. Nearly 20 years later, the remaster is set to launch as one bundle in 2025. While initially announced as a Switch release, Konami’s follow-up announcement revealed every launch platform, including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Its physical version is available for pre-order starting on August 28, with September 6 marking the day for Nintendo Switch pre-orders.

The Suikoden I&II HD Remaster will follow the originals’ turn-based formula, with over 100 characters to befriend and fight alongside. The remaster primarily enhances its graphics and makes it compatible with modern systems. Beyond this, it’ll also include new auto-battling and double-speed battling features to spice up your battles.

Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars arrives on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on March 6, 2025.
