Normally, if something you were doing was “melting your brain,” you would stop doing that thing as soon as humanly possible. For Modern Warfare 3 players, one game mode has them so addicted that they can’t stop, even if they wanted to: Small Map Moshpit.
We’ve all been there. You start playing a game and it consumes you. It’s all you think about. Fortnite when it was released, Warzone in 2020 both dominated my every waking thought, and in 2024, many players have the same relationship with Small Map Moshpit.
The mode eliminates all of the game’s big maps, throwing you into battle on the smallest instead like Rust, Shipment, and Stash House. Whether you play it because you love the constant action it provides or see it as the best way to level up guns, it’s hard to stop once you start playing it.
If this sounds like you, don’t worry, you’re not alone. In a post on the official MW3 subreddit, a player named Jozeiik admitted that they had previously been addicted to the brain-melting mode, but urged people to “go back into a game mode that has a variety of maps,” saying that your “heart rate and blood pressure will decrease dramatically.”
Thankfully, there are no quitters in the MW3 community, with players immediately declining, dropping the classic: “Just one more game, I can quit anytime!” Me too buddy, me too.
“Nice try intern. Give us Shipment 24/7 cowards,” wrote another, while one big Small Map Moshpit fan labeled the playlist as their “home.”
I must admit that much like the last Redditor, Small Map Moshpit has become my Call of Duty home too. Originally, I only played the small maps to rank up some guns I was struggling with, but the more I got spawn-trapped on Shipment, and the more I ran into complete mayhem on Rust, the more addicted I became.
Now, if I boot up MW3, I’m going straight to whatever the small map playlist is. I don’t even look at the rest anymore, it simply doesn’t happen. After 17 years of playing Call of Duty, my experience has boiled down to the most chaotic one possible. The mayhem is everything to me.
Don’t worry though, like the person above, I can quit at any time. I promise!
