Studio Supersoft announced the Nintendo Switch release date for cozy creature collector Moonstone Island during Wholesome Direct 2024.
Moonstone Island has been available on PC since late 2023, but fans have been asking about the Switch release ever since, eager to take their island exploration on the go. Now, after a year of waiting, fans finally know when they’ll be bale to get their hands on a copy.
Moonstone Island brings cozy creature-collecting to Nintendo Switch later this month
Moonstone Island launches for Nintendo Switch on June 19, 2024.
The game is a cozy creature-collecting slice-of-life simulator that’s completely open for players to explore and do pretty much whatever they want. That’s good because it features 100 islands filled with creatures to add to your collection as you learn more about its world, and that’s all without indulging in the farming side of things.
Moonstone Island is a game with a serious amount of depth. Its visuals are reminiscent of classic Pokemon games, Stardew Valley, and Sea of Stars, but the gameplay within is much more relaxing than anything you’ll have played before.
The cozy elements of this title make it perfect for Nintendo Switch. Before Wholesome Direct 2024, all we had was a vague release window of Spring 2024. In the lead-up to the showcase, the developer has been teasing some sort of announcement on Twitter. I can’t think of a better way to have announced this release date to Switch fans who just want another cozy game to sink 100 hours into.
If you like creature collecting and battling, there’s a tonne of that for you to do, with secret mythical creatures hidden away on the dozens of islands you’ll explore during your time with the game. However, if you want to kick back and just run a farm, you can do that too. The locals will appreciate your efforts; you might even get close to a few of them if you play your cards right.
There are even dungeons to explore for more creatures and rare resources that you’ll need to progress in other areas. This title has a lot to offer and might even seem overwhelming at first, but once you’re into it and get into the flow of moving between its working parts, you’ll find yourself building up a huge collection of creatures as you uncover every inch of the game’s world.
I’m looking forward to playing something with elements of classic Pokemon games like Gold and Silver but with a modern twist on the Nintendo Switch. I adore the journey from having no creatures to hunting down the rarest ones of all in caves you’d never find if you didn’t know a key secret about them. The beauty of what makes Moonstone Island so appealing is that it has elements just like that but for an incredibly broad audience.
