Since Monster Hunter Wilds launched, many players, especially long-time fans, felt the game was “too easy,” with battles lacking challenge. But Title Update 1 shattered that notion, unleashing a brutal High-Rank Zoh Shia showdown that’s proving to be a tough test for newcomers and veterans alike.
Zoh Shia had already made its mark as a formidable final boss in MH Wilds (trust me, I still have nightmares about those one-hit kills). But even if you thought it wasn’t that challenging, you’ll want to give it another shot with Title Update 1’s new High Rank quests. It’s now fiercer, more aggressive, and packs a whole new arsenal of devious combos, making it a more perilous encounter than ever before.

Zoh Shia will just unleash attacks over and over again, leaving you no room to initiate a strike yourself. Within a single day of Title Update 1‘s release, it quickly earned a reputation as one of the toughest bosses to date. The moment I dove into the MH Wilds Reddit, the front page was flooded with threads about its intense difficulty, with a post titled WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT reigning at the top.
In another post, a player reflected on the Zoh Shia battle, saying, “Everyone said wilds is too easy. As a vet, I agree, but I also knew they would eventually turn it on. They just did.” They also offered a valuable tip: It’s best to try the Zoh Shia fight solo before using any SOS flares. With so many players struggling, cooperative strategies can quickly become a challenge, as constant carting (getting knocked out) can prevent everyone from earning mission rewards. It’s a tough solo experience, but it gives you a chance to practice before teaming up, and once everyone’s more familiar with the fight, you’ll have a better chance of success.
If you want to try out Title Update 1’s Zoh Shia battle, it’s available for all Hunter Rank 50 players. You’ll see it as a quest or Investigation in the Ruins of Wyveria, where you can fight to claim the chic Zoh Shia High-Rank armor set.
There will undoubtedly be more challenging quests like this, especially with the looming threat of underwater battles returning alongside Lagiacris. As the stakes rise, Monster Hunter Wilds will continue to push our skills to the limit in ways we never imagined. But for now, we’ll just have to struggle with Zoh Shia.
