When does Monster Hunter Wilds come out?

As per the PlayStation State of Play, Monster Hunter Wilds launches on Feb. 28, 2025. Pre-orders are available for purchase, providing you with the Guild Knight Set (Layered Armor).

What platforms will Monster Hunter Wilds be on?

Monster Hunter Wilds will be available to play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Each system provides various editions, including Standard, Deluxe, and Premium Deluxe. Those who purchase the Premium Deluxe obtain two Cosmetic DLC Packs, which will be released at a later date. Additionally, anyone who has saved data for Monster Hunter World or Monster Hunter Iceborne earns the Felyne-based armor and weapons.

As for Switch, Monster Hunter Wilds isn’t currently planned for it. Monster Hunter Rise did appear on Switch, but it currently looks like PC and beefier consoles are where Wilds is staying for now.

Monster Hunter Wilds trailers

The Game Awards 2023 revealed the very first trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds. It gave us a short sneak peek of various monsters and the formidable Forbidden Lands.

We also see the playable character riding the new mount, Seikret. Not only is this creature used for traveling, but it can be an excellent asset for hunts. You can utilize it to stash away multiple gear, allowing you to heal and equip several weapons.

The Sony State of Play 2024 also gave us a first look into gameplay. It focuses more on the game’s combat side, presenting several brutal showdowns.

The trailer shows creatures like the Doshaguma, a fanged beast that lingers in the Windward Plains. We also get a glimpse of the reptilian-like Chatacabra, which uses its saliva to power up its attacks.

In more recent news, the Release Date Reveal trailer dives further into the Monster Hunter Wilds world. You’ll see how the Guild handles a few special assignments that put them against a fearsome new foe (not the adorable Palicos, of course). The monster is known as the “White Wraith,” the primary subject of the Research Committee.

Will Monster Hunter Wilds be open world?

Since there is little information about Monster Hunter Wilds’ gameplay, it needs to be clarified whether the game will be open-world or not. However, the trailer may hint at this feature, mainly because it includes changing environments.

The Monster Hunter Wilds page mentions two hunting locales: a formidable location with challenging monsters and a much more peaceful area. Creatures also have designated ecosystems, where you’ll primarily start in the Windward Plains.

Due to these unique environmental attributes, an open-world feature may pan out for Monster Hunter Wilds. We’ll have to wait and see what Capcom confirms.
