Monster Hunter Stories 2 gets a Palamute update on July 15

I’ll admit it: I’ve never dabbled in Monster Hunter Stories and I’ve been very on the fence with the fast-approaching sequel for Nintendo Switch and PC. But I know what I like: dog companions. Announced at E3 2021, Capcom will be adding a Palamute “Monstie” to Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin on July 15, 2021. It’s the first free update.

The news was included at the tail end of a story trailer full of melodrama, and I couldn’t help but politely chuckle at the high stakes, but boy is this game pretty. I love seeing some of my favorite monsters in this style — the Palamute lit up that Zinogre!

A trial version of Monster Hunter Stories 2 will be open to the public on June 25, including save-transfer functionality, and the full game is out July 9. See you then? If you’ve got Monster Hunter Rise data, you can roll right into Stories 2 with the Kamura Garb.
