MonarkĀ is rolling out a demo ahead of its launch date. NIS America announced a demo forĀ Monark today, which will let you play an early piece of it and carry progress over into the full game.

The demo is currently available on the PlayStation Store, for both PS4 and PS5, and Nintendo Switch. There isn’t a demo on Steam as of this writing though, despite the game launching on PC alongside those consoles. For Switch, it’s currently available on the device’s eShop, with a store page eventually going live.

If this is all new to you,Ā MonarkĀ is the new RPG from a band of formerĀ Shin Megami TenseiĀ developers. Set in the Shin Mikado Academy, a strange Mist has surrounded the school. All kinds of bad stuff is taking place inside, and you’ll have to team up with friends and fight in supernatural battles to stop it.

It’s definitely got appeal similar to the likes ofĀ Shin Megami Tensei, mixing in demonic other-worlds with a school setting. Harnessing your Ego and using tactics to outwit the opponents all seem like the name of the game inĀ Monark, and the demo seems to provide a decent chunk of it. The PlayStation Store description says it will let you play through Chapter 1, and carry progress over into the full game too.

It’s a nice way to do a demo, and one I usually prefer for big genres like RPGs. ThoughĀ MonarkĀ is arriving in the middle of an absolutely packed February, this demo might move the needle for folks who were thinking about skipping it.

Either way, you’ll have about a month to decide. Monark will launch for PlayStation 4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on Feb. 22, 2022.
