Every year, TIME magazine compiles a list of the “100 Most Influential People in the World.” Out of the 204 nominations this year, readers can vote on who they want to be in the final 100. After getting over my depression that Niero, Summa, or Ron Workman did not make the cut (they were robbed!), I quickly perked up once I saw that Shigeru Miyamoto (famed creator of Mario, Donkey Kong, and Zelda) made a welcomed appearance.

Miyamoto is an icon in the industry, to say the least, and he definitely deserves a place among the best. It’s just too bad that no other game designers were mentioned. I mean, come on, are you really telling me that CliffyB is less influential than Paris Hilton? Argh.

As of typing this post, Miyamoto is currently ranked #2 (right behind Stephen Colbert and ahead of J.K. Rowling), but if you want to help him maintain this position, get to voting! Wait — Stephen Colbert, Shigeru Miyamoto, and J.K. Rowling? Did I make this list? Oh, wait, Judge Marilyn Milian is not #4. Never mind.

What do you think? Are you happy that Shiggy is representin’? Who else from the world of video games would you like to have seen acknowledged?
