In an interview with The Verge, Xbox head Phil Spencer spoke to the possibility of streaming games from your PC to your Xbox One. The just-launched Windows 10 comes packaged with Xbox One to PC streaming functionality, an inverse of the potential feature.

It’s actually a little more challenging doing the encoding on the PC side to the Xbox, but challenge is good,” Spencer said. “[Gamers] want to play games on the device that they want to play on. They want to play with their friends and they progress whenever they sit down.”

It’s worth noting that we’ve heard rumblings about this feature before today. Spencer has openly discussed streaming PC games to the Xbox One on Twitter.

If this feature goes through, I guess Xbox One owners could hypothetically play No Man’s Sky on their console. It’s also a very strong argument for the Windows/Xbox One platform — a closed loop of content, easily accessible from device to device is the exact reason for Apple’s success. I know I would be more inclined to buy games directly from Microsoft if I could play Gears of War with both my PC and Xbox-owning friends.
