Mayak Shrine location and solution for Tears of the Kingdom (Totk)

Timing is everything

Recommended Videos

Mayak Shrine is aĀ Tears of the Kingdom shrine that requires you to time everything to perfection. As such, although it isn’t particularly challenging to know what to do, the execution is where most people will likely trip up. That’s why we’ve covered everything you need to know to complete the shrine below. But first, let’s take a look at how to find it.

How to find Mayak Shrine inĀ Tears of the Kingdom

Mayak Shrine is located in the Eldin Mountains region of Hyrule, which is practically the farthest north you can go in Tears of the Kingdom. The easiest way to get to the shrine is from Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower. Use the tower to glide and head northeast. It’s easy enough to reach the shrine in a single glide. Alternatively, if you don’t have Thyphlo Ruins unlocked, there are multiple shrines in the area, such as Marakuguc Shrine, that are close to Mayak. Check the screenshot above for the precise location of the shrine on the map.

How to complete Mayak Shrine

To complete Mayak Shrine, you’re going to need to complete the puzzles with perfect timing. The first section of the shrine is simple enough. Use the moving platform on the left of the entrance to send Link into the air and land next to the large ball on the higher level. You then need to use Ultrahand to grab the ball and put it on the slide.

However, that’s where the easy stuff ends. Once the ball is on the slide, you need to jump back down to the beginning to activate the orange plinth. One strike will turn it green and pull a platform out from under the opposite ledge. The problem is that the platform only comes out for a minuscule amount of time. Almost as quickly as it comes out, it’s heading back in again. To get the ball to land on the platform, you need to hit the plinth at close to the very last second that the ball is still on the slide.

The picture above, where the ball is half off the edge of the slide, shows how late you’re looking at hitting the plinth. The point pictured above is perfect to have the ball land on and activate the platform below. Don’t worry if you miss it and need to try again. The ball will automatically respawn on the upper level. Once you’re successful, go back up to the higher level and glide across to reach the next room.

The second room is similar to the first in terms of needing to time things perfectly, but it has a wildly different execution. First, there’s a chest attached to a rope underneath a pillar high up in the left corner of the room. The platform that shoots Link into the air on the ground level will send you flying well above it. To get the chest, use the platform to send Link into the air and glide down until you are about level with the chest/rope.

You then need to shoot an arrow at the rope in mid-air by using Link’s ability to slow down time while aiming his bow in the air. Be careful of using up your stamina doing this. Shooting the bow uses a significant portion of your stamina wheel for each shot. You’ll need at least some stamina left to reach the ground safely.

Once you’ve got the chest on the ground, open it up to receive a Large Zonai Charge.

Finally, to complete the shrine, you need to get another ball onto a moving platform. Use the ground-level pillar to shoot Link into the air, and then use the second around halfway up the room to reach the top. Here, there’s another ball and slide, just like in the first room. Like the first room, use Ultrahand to place the ball on the slide. However, make sure to do so with Link as close to the ledge as possible, like in the picture above. This will give you some much-needed time to reach the ground first.

When you place the ball on the slide, jump off the ledge and press “R” to dive toward the ground quickly. You need to land next to the orange plinth on the platform by the entrance to the room. Once you’re next to the plinth, you have more time to react than in the first room. If you hit the plinth when the ball is around halfway to the ground, the two should connect, and the final door will open. Once again, if you fail, just head back up to the top, where the ball will respawn.

That’s it! Mayak Shrine is complete!
