As you make your way through Super Mario Bros. Wonder, you’ll come across a variety of stages in the game’s hub world, known as the Petal Isles. On the path to the fifth world, known as Fungi Mines, you’ll be faced with a unique stage called Maw Maw Mouthful.
Maw Maw Mouthful is a mouthful of a stage, and it’s tripping up Super Mario Bros. Wonder players left and right. So, let’s outline how to nab all the 10-Flower Coins and secret Wonder Seeds to help everyone maintain that record of stage perfection as you slowly (but steadily) make your way to Bowser.
Maw-Maw Mouthful — First 10-Flower Coin
To secure the first 10-Flower Coin, you’ll need to progress in the stage until you reach an arch-like structure with the coin atop of it. It is fully possible to reach the top of this structure and grab the coin personally, though you’d need a well-timed bubble or Maw-Maw to propel yourself up there. It’s much easier to grab a snail’s shell and toss it up towards the coin.
Maw-Maw Mouthful — Second 10-Flower Coin
To grab the second 10-Flower Coin, you’ll first need to grab the Wonder Flower. As a Goomba, move past the first Maw-Maw by hiding behind the trees. Go up the ramp and ensure the Maw-Maw up here doesn’t see you by using the trees once again. Your target is just ahead, but you’ll need to either defeat a third Maw-Maw or dodge it to reach the lowest level. Remember, Goombas can walk on spikes no problem, so enter the lowest path and nab the 10-Flower Coin.
Maw-Maw Mouthful — Third 10-Flower Coin
As soon as you’ve claimed the level’s secret Wonder Seed and returned to your normal, plumber-shaped body, backtrack just a bit from the Wonder Seed’s platform and you’ll find a green warp-pipe. Use it to travel downwards and you’ll end up in a secret room where the 10-Flower Coin you seek is within reach. Your goal here is to use a snail’s shell to break the two stone blocks keeping you away from the coin. So, however you need to do that is valid, but it helped me to defeat the Maw-Maw first, then use two well-timed jumps to break the two stone blocks. In any case, grab the coin, then head back to the stage!
Maw-Maw Mouthful — Wonder Flower & Wonder Seed
You can grab the Wonder Flower once you’ve passed the checkpoint flag. Beneath the flag is a spike pit with a platform you can use to cross it. On the other side of the pit is one of those handles you can grab with the Y button and pull to reveal the Wonder Flower. This flower will transform you into a Goomba.
To grab the Wonder Seed, you’ll need to progress as a Goomba through a series of Metal Gear Solid-like stealth sections, all the while avoiding the Maw-Maws, who will be patrolling left and right through the stage. It can be a pretty lengthy section, but remember you can break their line of sight by hiding behind the trees, and once they’re facing away from you, they won’t turn back until they reach the end of the platform. Use these tips wisely and you’ll eventually make your way to claim the Wonder Seed.
