You can’t have all five of them to be at 3-stars; there will always have to be three 1-star scouts, one 2-star scout, and one 3-star scout, and this is the optimum setup.

The most crucial point to remember is to have scouts who specialize in the positions you need. If required, fire the scouts irrespective of their star ratings. In my experience, positional knowledge trumps the star rating. So it’s evident that your 3-star scout should be specialized in one of your weaker positions. Once you have got your proper scouting setup, the actual process begins.

In Madden 25‘s Franchise mode, the entire map is broken down into five regions:

• National
• Central
• Northeast
• Southeast
• West

It’s essential to check out the strengths and weaknesses of every region. The Central region might produce a great batch of Receivers in one given year but not do so during the next. This is a crucial point to consider before you assign your scouts. You would ideally want your best-rated personnel to scout National.

There’s one exception to this rule. If you find out that a particular region is expected to feature top talents in a position you need, it’s best to assign your 3-star scout for that responsibility. Otherwise, just let him be the National scout to check out the larger pool of possible prospects.

While the Combine results might not be the ultimate determinant of a talent, you should keep them in mind. Sometimes, the projected talent of a prospect might not materialize in real life if their Combine results are poor compared to expectations. You can also use the results to unravel hidden gems to be picked in later rounds.

• Pay importance to your scout ratings for a prospect. If your scout is good enough, their understanding of a prospect’s talent will be pretty accurate.
